The Academy of Martial Arts is currently accepting applications for it's new Mixed Martial Arts Program - MMA Street., Street Smart Martial Arts.

Grandmaster Parker Linekin has been studying and teaching Martial Arts in San Diego for over 45 years and is the founder and head instructor of The Academy of the Martial Arts. He currently holds upper level black belts in Kenpo, Tai Chi, Chuan Fa, and Ju Jitsu and am accredited and/or have trained in other arts such as Kung Fu, Aikido, Arnis, Shito Ryu (Weapons), Wing Chun Kung Fu, Chi Kung Meditation and many more.

Ever since he opened his first mixed martial arts school in Ocean Beach in 1974, he has strived to keep an open mind and not get locked into one mixed martial arts system. The Academy of the Martial Arts originated from the four arts taught (Kenpo, Ju-Jitsu, Tai Chi and Boxing). At that time the term “Mixed Martial Arts” did not exist and it would take 25+ years (UFC and Mixed Martial Arts competition) until the world discovered this diverse training system. Throughout his 45 years of teaching and training he has studied many martial arts systems and found that most systems were redundant with many holes in them. Master Linekin has the highest respect for all Martial Arts systems and feels all of them have a lot of good concepts, techniques, and theories but found that none of them offered a well rounded street smart self defense curriculum. He also found that most systems were comprised of very static and choreographed techniques that were not effective in real world self defense.

In 2006, Master Linekin and his student, Todd Cogan, began the process of designing a Street Smart Mixed Martial Arts System. They compiled Master Linekins's 45+ years of knowledge and studied an additional 30+ other Martial Arts Systems and the result is our new program called MMA Street. This comprehensive system includes concepts from systems such as American Boxing, Karate, Ju-Jitsu, Muay Tai, Jeet Kune Do, Krav Maga, Arnis, 3 different Military Systems, Tia Chi and much more. This system is not a competition or Cage fighting art but a compilation of the "best of the best" with street smart self defense and survival in mind.

We are excited to announce that effective February 1, 2009 we will be beta testing this new state of the art program at Academy of the Martial Arts located at 9825 Carroll Centre Road - Suite 400 - San Diego, CA 92126 - Map. We will be offering three different student programs for this new system:

Adult - 30 Day Course with certification - $299
Children - 30 Day Course with certification - $299
30 Day Women's Self Defense Course - $299 (4) Saturday Classes
Month to Month with 4 belt levels and Black Belt Certification from Master Linekin - $125 / month
